Poker is a card game in which a player bets his money believing that his cards are higher than his opponents’ are. Poker is usually the leisure activity of business people in the western countries. Two of the most successful poker players in the world today are Jamie Gold and Joe Hachem.
Born in New Jersey, Jamie Gold was declared Champion during the World Series of Poker in 2006 and brought home $12,000,000. But in his recent games in 2007, his rank shrank to 44th, 85th and 35th place. He was influenced by his mother and his grandfather to play poker. But before getting into the world of poker, he was a talent agent in US television. Few of the celebrities who were discovered by Gold were Felicity Hoffman, Jimmy Fallon, Lucy Liu, and Kirstin Davis. He decided to be a full time television producer and began to produce a poker show. From then on, he started playing poker and has had plenty of luck with it.
Joe Hachem is Lebanese, and is currently living in Melbourne, Australia. He won 1st place in the 2005 World Series of Poker, bringing home $7,500,000. The following year, he stepped down to 2nd place with $256,800 in hand. He first played poker when he was a teenager, and when he was 34 years old, he decided to try his luck in poker at the Crown Casino in Melbourne. It was also this year that he had a disorder of his hands, which forced him to stop his current job. Since then, he devoted his time as a mortgage broker and poker player.
